This report details the development of several HR parameters in the Norwegian defence sector over the last decade. The report serves as a knowledge base for future development of the sector, and points to areas where more cooperation between the organizations within the sector could be beneficial. The Norwegian defence sector is comprised of the Norwegian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency, the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment and the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency. The sector employs around 20 000 full-time equivalents (FTEs), of which the Armed Forces is the biggest by far with about 16 000 FTEs. Data from Statistics Norway is the main data source for comparing the various organizations. In addition detailed HR data was made available from the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment and the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency, so these organizations are analysed in depth.
