FFI’s Terrorism Research Group (TERRA) conducts academic research on transnational militant Islamism for the Norwegian Government. We use unclassified primary sources to study the history, structure, ideology, and behavior of violent Islamist groups. Our research fellows include historians, political scientists and linguists, all of whom have relevant language skills and area knowledge. FFI is recognized as one of the world’s leading centers for the academic study of militant Islamism.
