paul-magnus-hjertvik.buvarp@ffi.noPaul M. H. Buvarp is a political scientist working at FFI since 2016 across a range of research projects. His research concerns information influence, disinformation and propaganda, and in particular how susceptibility to influence is shaped by conditions within a society itself — what he terms structural receptivity. He also works on national security, hybrid threats and international politics.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. His doctoral thesis examined the activities of a British propagandist and secret agent who operated in Norway during both the First and the Second World War.
Buvarp writes on information, technology and democracy for Norwegian publications including Vagant, Samtiden, Aftenposten, and Klassekampen. He lectures regularly.
