The purpose of this report is to give a minimum of information for the safe use and assembling of batteries. The requirements for battery safety circuits are described as well as the most common use of devices such as fuses, thermal fuses and cut-off devices and safety valves as well as the rational for the use of diodes in battery protection. A small chapter on the dimensioning of a battery for a defined use is also included. The main goal is to ensure that the choice of cells and the assembling of cells into batteries are done according to best practices.
