Battlefield Management Systems for Hærens manøveravdelinger : sluttrapport for BMS-arbeidet under FFI-prosjekt 1019 - TEKNISK

This report summarizes the BMS activity of FFI-project 1019, TEKNISK. The project has studied the effect and usefulness of various possible future BMS functions. For this purpose we have developed an in-house experimental BMS, described in chapter 2. We have also developed a simulator serving as a tool for test and evaluation of BMS. The simulator work is described in a separate report [4]. We have conducted two simulator exercises and one field experiment. These are briefly described in this report, along with the most important conclusions. Both simulator exercises and the field experiment are documented in separate reports ([1], [2] and [3]). During the preparations for the first simulator experiment, we started looking at the possibility of visualizing BMS information directly in the sights of combat vehicles, through the use of augmented reality (AR). This proved to have a great potential, and was accordingly studied further in the project. The work done on AR, as well as future plans for AR and BMS work, are also described in this report.
